Fifth Annual IT Picnic

Agenda

When? Thursday, July 31, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., rain or shine. Food will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Where? The "meadow" between the Forestry and Business buildings across from the Arboretum on Park Avenue—look for the big tents!

Who's preparing the food? Benjamin's "Zero Waste Catering"—their products are 100 percent reusable, recyclable, or compostable.

What's on the menu? Sandwiches, side dishes, and drinks—plus homemade fudge brownies and chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Gluten free, lactose free, and vegetarian options will be available.

Planning to attend? RSVP by Friday, July 25.

Eco Tours

During the picnic, you’ll also have the opportunity to take a group tour of the MorningStar Solar Home and/or participate in a tour of The Arboretum at Penn State.

There’s no cost to participate in either tour, but registration is required for each by Friday, July 25.

MorningStar Solar Home

A component of the University’s sustainable housing efforts, the MorningStar Solar Home is a net-zero house that produces more energy than it consumes.

Tours of the MorningStar Solar Home will take place from 12:15–1:15 p.m. and 1:15–2:15 p.m. A fleet bus will be on-site to transport staff to and from MorningStar and the picnic area.

The Arboretum

The Arboretum recently opened the Childhood’s Gate Children’s Garden, a fanciful space where visitors of all ages can learn about the plants, animals, and geography of central Pennsylvania.

A tour of the Arboretum will take place from 10:30–11:30 a.m., prior to the start of the picnic. Staff participating in the tour will meet at the entrance to the Arboretum located next to the parking lot.
